I was riding shotgun as we crossed went through the Midtown Tunnel and acrosse Park Avenue. I got out of the car in the parking garage to the chorus of honking horns and engines running. I walked up Fifth Avenue smelling flowers, clean crisp winter air, people smoking. I was in New York City. I'd never been to this magical place and thanks to the graciousness of the senior member of the business trip I was on yesterday I got to eat lunch in The City. I actually got us a little lost going from one meeting to another and as a result instead of heading towards Long Island I navigated us straigt towards the city. We had some time so in to the madness we went.

It was an unbelievable time and I'll never forget my first steps in NYC, and while it felt so foreign to me, it also felt so safe. Part of me feels like I've got a little NYC in me. I'm fast paced, action packed and full of energy just like that unbelievable city. I left with only one regret, that I wouldn't be spending a significant amount of time there with the one person I wanted next to me the whole time, my lovely wife. We've talked for a long time about going to NYC for the first time together and while I was delighted to be there, it was somewhat empty without my best friend and companion next to me.

My hope is that at some point I could spend an extended amount of time there, at least more than two hours. I waited 24 years, 5 months, and 26 days to get there, so I'll be able to wait another few months or year before I can go back for the amount of time I'd like.

In a side note I actually met someone with less professionalism and tact than even people at my company display. This guy, an employee of my client, and a gentleman from my company were discussing a process of how something was done during the meeting. The gentleman from my company challenged the gentleman from our client that perhaps they should adjust the way they were sending us information. We moved on and began discussing other issues. After around ten minutes had passed this guy just freaked out on the guy from my company, told him he was going to call our competitor and got up and left. He then passed by us later and just looked down at the ground hoping that we wouldn't notice him walking by. It was truly the human equivalent of a dog walking with their tail beneath their legs. If the hothead would've stayed in the meeting ten minutes longer not only would he have realized we weren't trying to screw him, we were trying to make him more successful, and even offering him a service that we currently don't offer any other client. I was obviously shocked and stunned, and the craziest part, his boss was in the meeting and let him do all this. If anyone who worked for me ever acted so crazy they would find one thing on their desk the next morning, a box to pack up their things.

Well I'm outta words...I'm out....af
